TOP-TOY Code of Conduct
It is of great importance to TOP-TOY that all personnel involved in the manufacture of TOP-TOY products are treated in a safe, fair and respectful way.
DEFINITIONS
Personnel
ALL employees employed by a manufacturer involved in any way in the manufacture of products for TOP-TOY including management, administration, operations and labour.
Child Labour
A person younger than 16 years of age for full time work or the local legal minimum age for employment or the age for completing compulsory education if it is higher than 16.
Facilities
ALL buildings and property owned and/or used by the manufacturer for the manufacture of TOP-TOY products including factories, dormitories, outside areas, warehouses, offices etc.
TOP-TOY Products
All products manufactured for TOP-TOY under the TOP-TOY name and logo.
Child Labour
TOP-TOY products should not be manufactured by any manufacturer who uses child labour.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
o TOP-TOY products should not be manufactured by any manufacturer that uses forced or involuntary labour, whether personnel are in prison, bonded or otherwise.
o TOP-TOY products should not be manufactured by any manufacturer who use corporal punishment, threats of violence or other forms of mental or physical coercion and/or abuse in their operational procedures.
o Manufacturers shall pay all personnel at least the minimum monthly wage required by the local law.
o Any overtime work must be on a voluntary basis.
o All personnel must be free to leave the facilities when their shift ends. Any guards posted on any of the facilities should be posted for normal security reasons.
FACILITIES
o All facilities should comply with local law regarding building safety, health and hygiene and fire code regulations.
o All facilities should maintain proper lighting and ventilation.
o First aid kit must be available to all personnel in all facilities.
o All machinery should be properly maintained and serviced.
o All facilities should have adequate and well-identified emergency exits.
o Dormitories, where applicable, must be safe and clean and be located separately from the working facilities.
In case of a medical emergency in any of the facilities, it is recommended that a doctor or nurse be available to all personnel at short notice. The manufacturer should be responsible for all costs (not covered by the social security) incurred when any member of personnel requires medical care following an injury during work in any of the facilities.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
TOP-TOY will monitor relevant manufacturers and their facilities to ensure compliance with this Code of Conduct. Manufacturers will maintain, on site, all documentation that may be needed to demonstrate compliance with this Code of Conduct.
WE REQUIRE ALL MANUFACTURERS TO PROVIDE TOP-TOY WITH:
o Full access to all facilities for on-site inspections, including unannounced visits, by TOP-TOY and/or assigned representatives.
o Access to all records which enable TOP-TOY and/or assigned representatives to determine compliance with this Code of Conduct.
o Access to all personnel for confidential interviews during TOP-TOY and/or assigned representatives on-site inspections and visits.
TOP-TOY will enter into a constructive dialogue with the manufacturer to improve the overall working environment for all personnel. TOP-TOY will request adequate action plans to correct any non-compliant findings and undertake follow-up visits to ensure compliance and necessary improvements are made.
If improvements do not progress in a manner acceptable to TOP-TOY, we reserve the right to terminate the manufacturer relationship.
COMPLIANCE
An annual statement of compliance with this Code of Conduct must be signed by an officer of each manufacturer.
This Code of Conduct should be available in full to all personnel in the local language.
TOP-TOY is not restricted to the above conditions and whenever necessary may update and modify this Code of Conduct at anytime during the manufacturer relationship.
