FIRE PREVENTION MEASURES
Hazardous / flammable chemicals and combustible materials must be kept away from ignition sources.
1、 Hazardous / flammable chemicals and combustible materials must be stored in a safe location.
2、 All the Hazardous/flammable chemicals should be kept away from ignition sources (sources of heat).
3、 Hazardous (classified) locations are defined as those areas where fire or explosion hazards may exist due to the presence of flammable gases or vapors,
flammable liquids, combustible dust, or ignitable fibers. Some examples of flammable liquids and gases are: petrol, octane, diesel, kerosene, paint
thinner, spirit, spot remover, any hydrocarbon, e.g., methane or CNG, LPG, Acetylene, etc.
4、 No electrical lights or connections should be over-head in the area where combustible materials, such as acrylic materials, are stored. All lights are to be on the walls
with a safe distance between the lights andthe starting point of the storage on the floor.
5、 When such stores are kept un-attended for long periods of time, specifically when the facility is not in operation, persons responsible should perform regular, recorded
fire rounds in these areas.
6、 Sufficient smoke/heat/flame detectors should be fitted in these areas for early warning in the event of a fire.
7、 Persons working in these areas should be provided adequate training with regards to handling fires that may occur through the ignition or
explosion of Hazardous/Flammable chemicals.
8、Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of all the Hazardous/Flammable chemicals should be displayed in local language near the storage of the respective chemical.
9、Adequate training including knowledge of the properties of flammable liquids are essential for their safe storage and handling must be provided
by management to all staff who will come into contact with stored flammable liquids.
10、 A preventive maintenance program must be put in place for flammable liquid systems and equipment installed in hazardous (classified) locations.
Hazardous/flammable chemicals and combustible materials must not be kept on the roof of the facility or dormitory. They should be stored in a
designated place away from production floors, warehouse including yarn/fabric store, and the dormitories.
