All CHICO’S vendors must comply with the laws, rules and regulations of their country, province and locality. The following Terms of Commitment outline CHICO’S engagement with all our Vendor Partners:
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT:
In addition to the laws and regulations of its own country, CHICO’S vendors must understand and comply with all applicable product legislation that addresses issues of environmental impact and consumer health and safety where CHICO’S goods are sold.
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT TO ANTIDISCRIMINATION:
CHICO’S is committed to equal opportunity and fairness for all prospective employees. Individuals should be hired based on their skill and ability, and once hired, should be compensated and promoted on the basis of their work performance, not their personal characteristics or beliefs.
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT AGAINST FORCED LABOR:
Forced or indentured labor used by the factory or in any phase of the production process is strictly prohibited.
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT AGAINST CHILD LABOR:
A factory must comply with the child labor laws of its own country. A factory should not knowingly hire workers under age 14 and should have in place a system for confirming a worker’s age before a worker begins employment.
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT TO FAIR WAGES AND HOURS:
Employees should be paid in accordance with the law of the country or region. Overtime should be kept to a level that is humane and productive – excessive daily overtime day after day is neither good for the health or safety of workers or for the quality of the goods produced.
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT TO CLEAN AND SAFE WORKING AND HOUSING CONDITIONS:
CHICO’S does not permit any physical force to punish or motivate workers. CHICO’S prohibits any consistent pattern of verbal abuse towards the workers. CHICO’S insists on factories providing proper ventilation, lighting, and a clean working environment.
* CHICO’S COMMITMENT AGAINST TRANS-SHIPPING:
Illegally trans-shipping merchandise from one factory to another or one country to another is clearly prohibited.
